This is ring is formed from 14k gold around a beautiful turquoise nugget. The ring has a flowing free form in that it is higher on one side, forming a guard. The rest of the gold flows around the nugget securing it nicely without obstructing the lovely matrix and color of the stone. This ring is superb.

Native American gold jewelry is a relatively new idea that first appeared in the late 1970’s. Prior to that time period, Southwest Native American jewelry was made from silver, with an occasional piece made from cooper. Great silversmiths of the time began to create beautiful pieces using gold. Making gold jewelry requires a significant investment with no guarantee of a return. Artists will put their best effort into gold jewelry with the finest turquoise and coral the artist has to offer.  Goldsmiths are always those artists at the top of their craft.

Condition: Excellent – original condition
Provenance: This piece is from the private collection of Jo McClain in Texas.
