This elegant masterpiece was hand coiled using the rhythmic swirl design Dominique has made famous. The deep ribs are very tightly carved and at sharp angles. It is hard to believe that each one is done by hand—a very steady hand using incredible focus.  There is an amazing tactile sensation from the ridges as you hold this jar in your hands. This highly polished red jar is one of her earlier ones- made before she began using micaceous slip.

She gathers her materials (natural pigments) for her masterpieces from the grounds within the Jemez Pueblo. She cleans, mixes, hand coils, shapes, sands, fires outdoors, and polishes her own pottery. It is very labor intensive, but what beautiful results!

Dominique is recognized for her unique contemporary swirl and melon pottery, and has won numerous awards.  She continues to delight and amaze  people with her incredible talent. Her pottery is highly sought after by collectors.
