Description

This lovely vintage polychrome basket is hand coiled with an unusual ripple rim and has a whimsical floral design on two sides. The elongated top rim is narrow where the two sides of the handles meet. This little basket is a wonderful example of traditional pottery of Santa Domingo with a cream colored slip on a red clay body.  Typical floral designs in black and red are painted on the cream slip. The bottom of the vessel is often left red, and a black band is painted along the rim. It is in very good condition for its age- 70 years plus.

Condition: Very good- original condition with appropriate age marks
Provenance: Acquired from an estate in New Mexico.
