Description

Following in the footsteps of his mother, Maria Martinez, Adam and his wife, Santana collaborated on this pottery vessel and created an instant classic. The simple, crisp and elegant feather pattern at the neck of the pot is a trademark of Maria and her descendants.   This bowl has a gorgeous shape and is very nicely polished.

Santana Roybal and her husband, Adam Martinez, began making pottery pieces together in 1956. Prior to that time, Santana helped Maria by decorating pottery pieces for her. Santana and Adam became talented and well-known artists in their own right.  They worked together making black-on-black pottery their entire lives. Santana painted designs on pottery and Adam assisted in firing pottery.
