This gorgeous friendship basket / tray is very tightly woven with small ¼” coils. There are fifteen human figures inside – nine on the top row and six around the bottom center of the basket. The master weaver has expertly left a dropped row link in each of the circles of figures. The figures are woven from devil’s claw for the dark brown color. The finished top edge demonstrates one of the common decorative finishing stitches again using the dark brown/black of the Devil’s Claw. The last coil has been expertly woven to blend in to produce a smooth edge.

This is a beautiful tightly woven oval basket in the early traditional form. This basket shows a wonderful straight coil sown together in a long line to begin the round shallow form of the basket. All the colors occur naturally; no dyes are utilized.

Condition: Excellent – original condition. The original tag accompanies this basket
