Taos Pueblo might be one of the most photographed places in the world, because of its distinctive architecture. This striking photograph captures a woman in native dress standing outside of a typical residence of the pueblo. The brilliant shades of turquoise and blue of her shawl contrast beautifully with the blues of the sky and the blue iconic doors of the pueblo. It is signed in the lower left hand corner by the photographer, Debbie Lujan. As a resident of Taos, she brings a unique dimension to photography of the pueblo—she can go where the average visitor cannot, such as rooftops and restricted areas. As Debbie says, “If one cannot come to the pueblo, I can bring the pueblo to the world through my photographs.”
Debbie Lujan, owner of White Flower Photography, is a recognized photographer and has won several awards for her depictions of Taos and the surrounding countryside.
