Description
This beautiful vintage rug is woven from natural sheep’s wool of different colors. The wools were carded and mixed to create the unique gold tones, gray, cream, and black used in this tightly woven rug. The gold/tan color of the central diamond design is quite rare, as is the serrated design. Each end of the rug has a gold cotton yarn woven into the edge to emphasize the beautiful gold/tan in the center. The selvages are the usual contrasting wool, as is typical with all Navajo weavings.
Condition: Very good for its age – there is some fading on one end, otherwise this rug is in very good condition. This gorgeous piece is very tightly woven.
Provenance: Acquired from a collector in Arizona
