Description
This large pendant depicts a water symbol modified from the images of the canyon. Kee has formed this pendant from sterling silver carefully hand cutting the design. He then stamped it with dragonflies, which represent not only water, but for good fortune. From the end of the pendant hangs a beautiful Candelaria turquoise cabochon.
Kee Yazzie Jr. lives near Ganado, Arizona amidst spectacular deep canyons that contain thousands of ancient petroglyphs. He uses these ancient symbols as the signature designs on his amazing jewelry. Kee’s resulting style is one of wonderful images created through complex overlay, cutouts, stamping, and appliqué. Inspired by the rock art walls he saw when he was younger, Kee began to depict these petroglyph images on his jewelry – something that distinguishes his pieces from that of other American Indian jewelers. Kee’s petroglyph jewelry is quite unique and very beautiful.
