Description
This spectacular necklace was made by Lupe Lovato from Kewa (Santo Domingo) Pueblo. Although this gorgeous necklace begins as a single strand, it divides into three graduated strands of heishi. The trapezoidal spacers of spiny oyster measuring 2” x 1″ form the beautiful link between the top and bottom- half of the necklace. The lower half of the necklace is three separate graduated strands of turquoise heishi with spiny oyster corn tabs strung at the bottom of the loop in classic jocla style. The necklace is strung on nylon-sleeved braided stainless-steel wire for durability.
These beautiful Sleeping Beauty heishi beads seem to slide through your fingers smoothly and are perfectly graduated in diameter. It takes hundreds of pieces of turquoise to create perfectly formed heishi beads, and Lupe Lovato is a master of creating heishi.
