This ring was made by the Zuni father-daughter team of artists Peter III and April Haloo. The Haloo family has been creating beautiful snake-eye jewelry since 1965. The term ‘snake eyes’ refers to the shape of the stones on these highly prized rings. The 60 Sleeping Beauty turquoise stones are slightly flattened tiny balls. Every stone is identical to the next, in size, shape and color. It takes great skill to set small, matched stones evenly spaced and so close together. Each stone has been hand-shaped, and you will find silver drops separating every piece of stone. I can only imagine the number of hours they spent in creating this beautiful and unusual ring.
If you have never tried a piece of Haloo jewelry on, believe me when I say the look is striking. You look at this ring and can’t imagine how they grind the stones so small, and then are capable of putting bezels around them to hold each stone secure.
The Haloo family are the masters of this style jewelry and this ring will only appreciate in value over time. It is truly a piece of handmade Zuni wearable art that you will treasure forever.
