Although they are traditional potters who use traditional designs, this is not your traditional design from Elizabeth and Marcellus Medina!

The seventy-two different birds on this wonderful olla depict the variety of birds painted on Zia jars. Elizabeth made this fabulous piece by hand coiling the pot and firing it outdoors. Marcellus meticulously painted several varieties of birds all around the piece. You will find robins, swallows, parrots, even pregnant birds with tiny eggs in their bellies, along with many others.

Elizabeth and Marcellus Medina are a highly respected Zia Pueblo husband and wife team who create remarkable pottery, as well as paintings. Elizabeth makes traditional pottery with perfection; Marcellus paints the intricate details on her pieces. This wonderful olla is a substantial size, measuring 14” x 14”.
