Description

This inlaid turtle is absolutely exquisitely made. Abraham’s silverwork resembles the overlay style practiced by Hopi craftsmen, but rather than using two individual sheets of silver and overlaying one over the other, Abraham carves away silver to reveal a deeper layer. The legs, head and tail of this magnificent turtle are carved to reveal triangles lines and mountains representing mountains, kivas, and land.

The body of the turtle is surrounded by sterling silver raindrops. The intricate inlay of the body is meticulously placed using a variety of stones: malachite, turquoise, lapis, opal, pipestone, and shell. The design on each side reflects the one on the opposite. The central design is a six-sided star inset with different types of beautiful turquoise and shell. The shell inlay is repeated again on the four outer edges.

In Native American lore the turtle symbolizes order, creation, patience, strength, stability, longevity, innocence, endurance, and protection wherever and whenever it is worn.

The sterling silver chain is made by Abraham and is 18” in length.

This stunning inlaid turtle will be a wonderful addition to your personal collection and your protector whenever you wear it.
