Description

This sculptural sterling silver pendant is a wonderful example of the overlay technique developed by Hopi silversmiths. The polished top layer of sterling silver contrasts beautifully with the oxidized silver beneath, adding depth and dimension.  The highly stylized sun face, rain clouds and lightning represent the importance of rain to the arid areas of the Southwest. This beautiful pendant is a timeless piece that honors Hopi jewelry tradition. There is a bail hook on the back making it quite easy to hang on either a chain or an wire.
