Description

The Zuni associate the badger with boldness, perseverance and individuality. He is the protective animal of the South. It is the badger who helps the medicine men and shamans dig up the roots and herbs that are needed in healing. This marvelous badger is carved to enhance the blue variations of the sodalite gem. He comes with an offering bundle of a turquoise arrowhead attached with sterling silver and coral accents.

Sodalite is a rich royal blue gemstone almost invariably veined with white streaks or markings, as well as a variety of different shades of blue from light blue to deep royal-blue, and from grayish-blue to violet. It is sometimes referred to as “poor man’s lapis” due to its similar color and the fact that is much less expensive. Its name comes from its high sodium content.
