Item Number: DR 3081
Pueblo: Zuni Pueblo
Artists: Leland Boone
Medium: Blue Slag from gold deposits

Dimensions: 1 ½” X 1”

The beautiful frog is carved from blue slag. He has inlaid dots of dark red coral across his back. The swirls of colors in the slag give him character and charm.  The frog in the Zuni culture represents abundance – water, rain, fertility, prosperity

Slag is the glass-like by-product left over after a desired metal has been separated (i.e., smelted) from its raw ore. It usually appears as either green or blue, depending on the initial composite minerals contained with the gold ore. Slags are glassy, stony hard and compact.

Condition: Excellent – original condition – new
Provenance: Purchased from the artist during The Zuni Show in Santa Fe.
