Description
Ancita Yazzie wove with great pride and with careful attention to every detail, and it is this careful attention to detail that is very evident in this magnificent extra-large floor rug.
Before the turn of the twentieth century, the Navajo switched from making traditional Native American wearing blankets to weaving thick, brilliantly colored rugs with hand-spun wool. This dramatic shift featured “eye dazzling” geometric shapes and color palettes never before see. These new patterns, became what is now known as the eye dazzler style.
This rug has a very tight weave of very finely spun wool yarns in an intricate pattern of serrated diamonds. These jagged edge diamonds are in shades of grey, black and red. The border of dark red emphasizes the horizontal eye dazzler pattern scheme running throughout the rug. The pattern is true and constant throughout the entire piece. It will make a stunning addition to any room. This eye dazzler offers a very traditional look with a decided contemporary feel thanks to rich, colorful designs you do not find in other traditional Navajo weavings.
