Description
Navajo artist Vernon Begaye is famous for his wonderful use of eye-dazzling materials in his marvelous jewelry. He is a distinguished silversmith whose individual vision sets him apart from tradition while retaining the cultural origins that inspired his talent.
He achieved recognition early in his career for creating clean straight lines of multi colored inlay on heavy tufa cast sterling silver jewelry. This is his signature look. These innovations led to a rare and coveted Southwest American Indian Art (SWAIA) fellowship. He has won multiple ribbons at the Gallup Ceremonial, the Heard Museum show and the Navajo Festival of Arts and Culture.
Now, he is making exceptional jewelry in an abstract style all his own, that is instantly recognizable and highly prized. These sterling silver arrowhead earrings are tufa cast with conjoined arrows dangling from the bottom. The arrows are enhanced with a beautiful cabochon of natural Blue Gem turquoise set in a simple sawtooth bezel.
