Description
This is a new concept for Maxine and Dominique Toya, a mother-daughter team of award winning potters. This olla shaped jar is divided into four quadrants. In each section is a depiction of the seasons with the growth of a stalk of corn. There is a bird with each stalk and just as each season is unique unto itself, each bird is unique. A rainbow arches above each stalk offering blessings and protection. These beautiful panels are painted by Maxine with her careful attention to detail and fine lines.
The upper and lower body sections are slipped with a beautiful micaceous slip giving a shimmery effect to the pottery. The body has been expertly shaped and smoothed by award winning potter, Dominique. This small jar seems to glow when it catches the light.
