This is a wonderful little bird plate created by hand by a master potter. It is cream slipped and painted with traditional designs of including rain, feathers, kiva steps and mountains. There are four colors of slip and paint on this charming polychrome bird.

This charming bird plate might be used to hold goodies or personal treasures – for it was made by a living treasure who helped revive pottery making at Jemez Pueblo.  Juanita says she learned to make these plates from her mother, Rita Magdalena.
